Questions?
Q: What should I know about parking and arriving for my appointment?
A: Parking directly at the building level is strictly reserved and somewhat limited. However, there is abundant additional parking available behind the building, just across the creek bridge. Please note that we do not have a receptionist in the lobby; upon arrival, simply have a seat and make yourself comfortable. The door chime will notify us that you have arrived, and your provider will come out to greet you and bring you back for your session.
Q: What can I expect during my first intake appointment?
A: This first session is designed for us to get to know you and your particular concerns and issues, as well as to define a diagnosis and plan for treatment. Your therapist will ask you a number of questions to gather this information; while it may seem like a lot of questions, that is the primary function of this initial meeting. After this session, your therapy will shift, feeling less like a Q&A and more like a collaborative conversation built around supporting you and walking with you on your unique path of healing.
Q: Do you take insurance?
A: We do not accept any insurances; however, we will generate a Superbill that you can submit to your insurance after the fact for out of network level reimbursement.
Q: Why is this a private-pay practice?
A: By stepping outside of insurance networks, we are able to prioritize your care in three important ways:
Total Privacy: We are not required to share your sensitive treatment notes, diagnoses, or clinical progress with third-party insurance companies.
Clinical Autonomy: Private pay allows us to design a treatment plan based solely on your unique clinical needs, ensuring your therapy isn't limited by insurance companies’ financial based mandates.
Administrative Simplicity: This removes the need for managing pre-authorizations or navigating complex billing audits, allowing us to devote our time entirely to your healing.
Q: Can I still use my insurance benefits for out-of-network care?
A: Yes! While we do not contract directly with insurance companies, many insurance plans include Out-of-Network (OON) benefits. Upon request, we can provide you with a monthly Superbill (an itemized receipt of services) that you can submit to your insurance company for potential partial reimbursement, depending on your plan's coverage.
Q: Can I use my Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA)?
A: Yes! You can use pre-tax dollars from an HSA or FSA account to pay for therapy services directly. We can accept HSA and FSA cards as your draft billing account.
Q: Do you accept Medicare?
A: No, we do not. We are an "opt out" provider and also cannot provide superbills for Medicare. Recipients must advise staff in advance.
Q: What is your cancellation and missed appointment policy?
A: Please give at least 24-hour notice for cancellations. Appointments not cancelled 24 hours prior (excluding sudden severe illness or emergency) will be charged the full fee for the scheduled session type. These fees are not covered by insurance and this policy is strictly enforced.
Q: How does relational therapy differ from traditional individual therapy?
A: Instead of isolating the client, relational therapy recognizes that struggles and strengths are intertwined with family systems and environments. We safely invite your attachment network into the process to optimize boundaries and systemic support if and when appropriate.
Q: Why are the therapy rooms named after birds?
A: We use natural metaphors to transform clinical space into a participant in healing. Each bird represents a non-linear chapter of recovery, reminding you that every aspect of your journey belongs here.
Q: What if I feel stuck or experience a setback during treatment?
A: Setbacks are an expected part of a journey that is by definition non-linear. We meet them with curiosity rather than judgment, honoring the reality that renewal is always accessible.
