In addition to providing clinical social work licensure supervision, Ms. Weatherstone is an iaedp-approved supervisor for those individuals interesting in pursuing the Certified Eating Disorders Specialist (CEDS) credential.
Ms. Weatherstone earned the iaedp-Approved Supervisor/Consultant designation from the International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals (iaedp) Foundation in 2023. She previously earned the CEDS credential in 2019, and this most recent supervisory level certification is the most advanced level of certification available for those specializing in the treatment of eating disorders.
This prestigious, international, designation includes a minimum of five years and 6,000 hours of assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of eating disorders, continuous specialized training in eating disorder treatment, and intensive oversite, in addition to maintaining all appropriate state social work licensure and certification qualifications. Ms. Weatherstone joins an elite group of professionals committed to excellence in the treatment of eating disorders who desire to mentor, educate, and encourage other clinicians in this field who are seeking iaedp’s Certified Eating Disorders Specialist designation. Ms. Weatherstone and other CEDS-C professionals have mandates for ongoing annual training hours that must be completed and verified in order to continue to hold both the CEDS and CEDS-C certifications.
Ms. Weatherstone currently serves as the Owner, Founder, and Clinical Director of Weatherstone Collaborative, and with this iaedp-Approved Supervisor/Consultant designation, she plans to continue mentoring mental health professionals to achieve excellence and innovation in their eating disorder treatment skills and to expand comprehensive Eating Disorder treatment in the greater East Tennessee region. Ms. Weatherstone is also an Assistant Professor of Practice in the UT College of Social Work, in addition to her work at Weatherstone Collaborative.
This iaedp-approved supervisor designation allows Ms. Weatherstone to offer eating disorder clinicians who are seeking the iaedp Certification the assurance and confidence that the highest standards of supervision will be provided throughout all stages of treatment. Established in 1985, iaedp (http://www.iaedp.com) provides educational programs and training standards for eating disorder specialists and other medical professionals caring for those suffering from the full spectrum of disordered eating. The group offers the most widely respected certification process for specializing in eating disorder treatment.

Be aware that the following are minimums and your specific supervision requirements may be increased as needed by your iaedp™-Approved Supervisor.
Requirements of Supervisor:
Qualified supervisors are iaedp™-Approved Supervisors who can be found by going to the iaedp.com website, clicking on the Certification tab and scrolling to the dropped down menu to click on Approved Supervisor List.
Supervisor must be an iaedp™-Approved Supervisor prior to starting supervision.
It is a requirement to have an agreement between supervisor and supervisee in order to set a start date and begin your supervised work experience. The agreement should set out the parameters of your work together.
A qualified supervisor does not have to be in your same geographical area. Supervision for the iaedp™ Certification is permissible by means of in-person, video conferencing, and/or telephone.
A minimum of 2,500 eating disorder-specific practice hours must have been accrued both under the guidance of an iaedp™-Approved Supervisor(s) and in no less than two years/24 months and no more than 40 hours per week.
Of the 2500 required practice hours:
At least 2000 hours of your total supervised hours must be direct client/patient service and education (activities directly related to treatment of client/patient assigned to you including face-to-face interaction, case conceptualization, team coordination of care and treatment documentation). A minimum of 150 hours must be from indirect client service, which includes supervision case-based learning/teaching, community presentation, program development, teaching on eating disorder topics, coursework and readings, blog entries and other writings, case study, journal clubs. Supervision hour requirement is a minimum of 24 hours of meetings with the supervisor(s) supporting your experience hours.
Hours cannot be accrued in less than 24 months/2 years or in more than 40hrs/week.
Your iaedp™-Approved Supervisor will be responsible to complete information for your CEDS Certemy application that speaks to your clinical work, their recommendation of you for a certification, and confirming the hours of clinical work reported.
At least 1875 practice hours must be supervised by an iaedp™-Approved Supervisor within your discipline who is overseeing your work experience. Additional hours can be from an iaedp™-Approved Supervisor from another discipline within the treatment team. Supervisors sign off on direct and indirect hours.
Supervisors need to be aware that they are not just signing for the supervision hours but also confirming the supervised experience hours, e.g. 2500 hours. Supervisors may require weekly logs to track supervised experience hours.
Of the 24 minimum supervision hours, at least 12 must be individual/dyad supervision. Group supervision may account for the remainder of the minimum 24 supervision hours. Group supervision is defined as having 3 or more supervisees. You may exceed the minimum supervision hours.
If using more than one supervisor, supervision hours cannot overlap for the same experiences.
